Table of contents
Key ingredients
- Olive oil- Used for extra flavor and saute.
- Butter- Use unsalted for best results.
- Chicken- I like to use cubed boneless chicken.
- Spices and seasonings- Salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning add to the overall flavor.
- 40 cloves- Use whole, not minced or chopped.
- White wine- This will boos the overall flavor of the recipe.
- Chicken broth- Use low sodium so the dish doesn't become too salty.
- Lemon juice- Adds a bit of tang that compliments overall dish.
- Garnish- Use fresh parsley to complete the dish.
Variations
- Add potatoes- Add 1 cup potatoes (cut into cubes) in this recipe.
- Use chicken thighs- Replace chicken breast with thighs.
- Make chicken wings- Replace chicken breast with wings.
- Use on pasta- Serve this chicken with boiled spaghetti or just toss boiled noodles in the pot with the chicken and sauce. Garnish with some shredded parmesan cheese.
- Creamy option- You can do this 1 of 2 ways. First, dilute cornstarch or flour with some water and mix that into the sauce. Or just add ⅓ cup cream cheese and mix that into the sauce. This will change the flavor a bit.
How do I cook garlic chicken breast?
- Heat oil and butter- In a nonstick pot.
- Cook chicken- Until no longer pink.
- Add in- Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, broth, wine, lemon juice and mix.
- Cover with lid- And cook for a few minutes.
- Uncover and cook- Until liquid is reduced.
- Garnish- With parsley and enjoy.
What to serve with chicken in garlic sauce?
- Rice- Such as Chicken Fried Rice (One Pot) or Vegetable Fried Rice (One Pot).
- Pasta- Like spaghetti, linguine, Zucchini Noodles (Zoodles) and Spaghetti Squash (Instant Pot).
- Salad- Including this Easy Green Salad (One Bowl) that seems to go with just about anything.
- Soup- Easy Vegetable Soup Recipe (One Pot) is a great option to balance out the protein.
Tips and techniques
- Use unsalted butter and low sodium broth- To prevent the meal from becoming too salty.
- Whole chicken breasts or thighs or drumsticks- Can easily be used in this recipe. I like to use cube sized chicken breast pieces because they cook faster.
- Don't chop the garlic into small pieces- Because whole garlic needs to be used.
- Adjust the amount of Italian seasoning- Based on your preference.
- You can substitute white wine- With additional low sodium chicken broth.
