    Variations for Kielbasa and potatoes

Switch up the meat - If you aren't a fan of sausage, you can substitute with chunks of chicken or turkey, stew meat, or even bacon.

Try other types of sausage - There are a variety of different sausages to choose from, so pick one that suits your taste and matches the spices you choose. For example, use Italian sausage with Italian seasoning. You can even use ground sausage.

Sprinkle cheese - if you are a cheese lover, sprinkle some freshly shredded cheddar, mozzarella or your favorite type of cheese over the top of this dish.

Serve it for breakfast - With breakfast sausage and eggs sunny side up.

Sausage and potato bake or casserole- Try a new way of cooking. Put this yummy combination into a greased casserole dish with lots of shredded cheese on top and pop it in the oven. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly. You can also try cooking this in a skillet on the stovetop as a one pan meal.

Add gravy on top- Prior to serving, drizzle this Easy White Gravy (One Pot) or Best Onion Gravy (One Pot).

Add vegetables - You can bulk up this dish with various vegetables, including green or red peppers, onions, zucchini, or mushrooms, depending on your taste. Sauté them in butter and some herbs and spices.

Use sweet potatoes - Instead of using potatoes, you can choose a healthier option to fit your needs. Sweet potatoes require less cooking time, depending on their size, so adjust time as needed and make sure they are fork tender.

Spice it up - If you like a more spicy dish, add red pepper flakes.

Try other herbs and spices- You can also change the flavor with a variety of combinations, such as garlic salt and rosemary, cumin and curry powder, or Mexican seasoning.

    Tips and techniques

For crispy potatoes - Work in batches (don't let them overlap) and cook potatoes on each side for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.

Do a quick pressure release - Because if the pressure releases naturally, the potatoes will end up soft, over-cooked and mushy.

Use a steamer basket - As opposed to placing potatoes directly into the instant pot. This allows the steam to cook the potatoes evenly and prevents food from sticking or burning to the bottom of the pot.

Be sure to dump out water - This has to be done before sautéing in the instant pot or food will be more soft than crisp.

Line plate with paper towels to place cooked sausages on- Because this helps to eliminate extra fat and grease.

Gently mix all the ingredients together- Because this prevents breaking or mashing of potatoes.

Thoroughly cook sausage - Make sure no pink is visible inside, because uncooked sausage can make you sick.

Use nonstick pot in your pressure cooker, if possible- These can be bought online and prevent sticking and burning.

    Storage

Refrigerate - Leftovers can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheat- In the microwave or on the stovetop.

Freeze- Let cool, divide into gallon sized freezer bags, place date on the bag, and store for up to 1 month.

After adding a little garlic in cream of celery as a topping, onion powder, and garlic powder, it was that much more delicious and hearty. I also used chicken broth instead of water to steam the potatoes, and I added green beans also. Without the cream of celery or another type of sauce the meal would’ve been quite dry. My family and I topped it with rice and we enjoyed it a lot. 1.5 tbs of parsley is also quite a lot but in the end it tasted awesome. *I steamed the potatoes on high pressure + more and they were a bit mushy, so high pressure on normal might work better.5 stars
