Quick and easy oven roasted broccoli recipe with garlic and parmesan cheese. This simple 30 minute side dish is crispy and full of flavor.
This crispy garlic parmesan roasted broccoli takes boring old broccoli to a whole new level of deliciousness- even for picky eaters. It's great for dinner parties, especially during big holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter, because it is cheap and feeds a crowd. What to serve with oven baked broccoli?
- Rice- Like this Garlic Rice (One Pot), or use in Chicken Broccoli Rice Casserole (One Pot).
- Pasta- Including Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta (One Pot) or Butter Garlic Chicken Pasta (One Pot).
- Meat- Such as chicken, fish, or steak like this Creamy Lemon Garlic Chicken (One Pot) or Garlic Butter Steak Bites (One Pot).
- Potatoes- And broccoli are well paired. I suggest using this Creamy Mashed Potatoes Recipe (One Pot), or making Parsley Potatoes (One Pot) to go alongside.
- Soup- Instant Pot Potato Soup (Creamy) would pair really well. In fact, you can even include the roasted broccoli right in the soup.
Tips and techniques
- Adjust the amount of garlic powder- Based on your preference.
- Amount of oil oil is very important- If you don’t use enough oil, the broccoli florets will steam rather than roast. If you use too much oil, the broccoli will become greasy, soggy and limp. Remember that there should be no puddles of oil on your sheet pans.
- For best flavor and texture- This should be served immediately because as time goes on, the florets will become limp.
- Recipe can easily be doubled or tripled- But be sure to use multiple sheet pans to prevent overlapping and even roasting.
- Don't use frozen broccoli- It has to be fresh broccoli for maximum crispiness. Frozen broccoli releases too much water while baking.
- Spread broccoli out- On the pan and don't overlap so that you get even baking.
Recipe FAQs
450 degrees is the best temperature for best flavor, texture and maximum crispy edges without any burning. 15- 20 minutes is usually best. Broccoli is ready when it's crispy on the edges with some charred corners.
It takes about 20 minutes at 400 degrees and about 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
No, because it is too watery and won't get that nice crisp to it.
Storage
- Make ahead- This can be made up to 2 days before serving and placed in the fridge. When ready to serve, place in the oven at 400 degrees and crispy them up again for 5-6 minutes. Best served fresh the same day, however.
- Refrigerate- It can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for 1-2 days.
- Freeze- This is not recommended, because the broccoli will not regain it's crispiness.
- Reheat- Spread the broccoli in a sheet pan again and roast at 400 degrees for 5-6 minutes or until they are slightly crispy again.
